Congratulations to our September 2015 Athlete of the Month!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am currently a sophomore at Texas State University. I am a nutrition major with a concentration in dietetics and my goal is to become a dietitian. I spend a lot of time with my friends and family usually eating, drinking margaritas, and just enjoying life.
What brought you to CrossFit?
After I stopped playing sports in high school I needed something to keep me in shape so my cousin introduced me to CrossFit. I never would have thought that I would fall in love with fitness, get such wonderful results, and make great friends. I am healthier and more athletic now than I ever have been playing high school sports and I owe all of that to CrossFit.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A little over a year.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I used to hate exercise and it would actually make me really nervous, but now I love it and I feel like I can’t live without it. Also since CrossFit focuses a lot on nutrition and overall health it has inspired me to continue on my career path in becoming a dietitian. I am in the best shape I have ever been in and I know that I can only move forward from this point. Doing CrossFit has also inspired my family to join in as well and this makes me ecstatic knowing that my family is improving their lives as well.
Favorite CrossFit movement?
Least favorite CrossFit movement?
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Be able to do a strict pull up.
Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting CrossFit?
It will change the way you look at fitness. Instead of exercise being a chore it will be something you actually enjoy doing and you will start to look forward to it in your day. Stick with it and don’t quit!
