Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I wear or bring to class?

Wear comfortable workout attire. You will be moving quite a bit. Most people wear a minimalist shoe. You should also bring water, a towel, and possibly a notebook to record your times. Recording your progress helps to show improvement.
  • How should I prepare for my first class?

Be sure to eat some protein a good hour before class and stay hydrated throughout the day. Prepare mentally. Your CrossFit workout is for YOU not anyone else. It is fun to compete with your fellow athletes but realize you will have good days and bad days and it is ultimately you against yourself. You want to make yourself better than you were yesterday.
  • I'm not sure about CrossFit, can I try it out?

Yes! We offer a free community WOD every Saturday at 9 am. These workouts will mostly be body weight stamina sessions where you will be introduced to CrossFit technique and intensity. You will also get the chance to meet the wonderful growing community of CrossFit Hays. We welcome you to join us so that you may come in and see firsthand who we are, and what we do!
  • I haven't worked out in such a long time, will I survive?

Yes! CrossFit is a great place to start. It is fully scalable. The coaches will program an hour of intense exercise; however, you are only expected to perform to your current fitness level. Consistent training over time will allow you to reach your potential.
  • I have had a previous injury can I still join?

Absolutely. Our coaching staff has had experiencing working with people that have had all types of previous injuries such as: elderly clients, clients with permanent disabilities, youth clients, and clients with past injuries (knee surgeries). All workouts can be modified as needed. Our coaching staff will show you different modifications for each movement. They are also CrossFit mobility certified. Mobility is important to prevent injury.
  • Is there an age limit?

Typically, 14 years and older are perfect for our general classes. We are also CrossFit Kids certified and can work with younger kids.
  • Can I bring my kids with me?

The box can be a dangerous place for children. They cannot be on the floor for their safety and of our athletes. We have an office area where you can contain your children and/or if they will stay there is an athlete corner. NOTE: Children cannot be disruptive to the class.
  • Do you offer drop-in classes?

Yes. Come 10 minutes early to sign waiver. You can buy a t-shirt or pay our drop in fee.
  • Can I workout if I'm pregnant?

We have had several mommas continue their workouts with us while pregnant (some moms have even had multiples). You will want to first consult with your physician.
