Congratulations to our September 2018 Athlete of the Month!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a Senior Accountant at a software startup in Austin. I enjoy gaming with my significant other and spending time with my husky. I’m a huge Red Sox & Yankee fan (weird I know).
What brought you to CrossFit?
I joined CrossFit after various workout programs (Camp Gladiator, Orange Theory, Golds Gym, etc.). I felt like I was paying to run and never really felt challenged.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
This is my second time around and have been doing this for 7 months now.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
It’s boosted my confidence in so many levels. Growing up I was always fairly thin and after college I gained a ton of weight which really ate at my confidence. When I was with those other programs it was an ugly cycle of me working out and then gaining weight right back because it wasn’t addressing my core issues. With CF I had to change the way I ate and I had to start building my confidence in order to get through the workouts. Now I’m eating healthier and have better self-esteem.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Anything push press related and rowing.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Running, jump rope, burpees, lunges, overhead, etc.
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I’d like to be able to do a pull up without the band
Anything else you would like to add?
To the coaches – especially Brandon, thank you for being so patient with me. I hate pretty much all of the workouts and I definitely curse under my breath a lot but I’m really thankful for the encouragement that y’all give me. I’ve lost 19 pounds since starting and I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish that without y’all. Thank you all for taking the time to explain movements to me and what muscle groups we are targeting – that goes such a long way for me because it adds purpose to the workout.
