Congratulations to our August 2018 Athlete of the Month!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I spent most of my childhood in Western New York and Orange County, CA. After graduating college in 2008, I joined the U.S. Air Force as a Commissioned Officer where I served as a Special Agent. In 2012, I left the Air Force and decided to move to Austin, TX on a whim. It actually ended up being the best thing I ever did because it’s where I ended up meeting my wife. And recently, we just found out we’re gonna be parents Praise God, cause this has been a long time coming. This couldn’t be a more exciting time in our lives.
What brought you to CrossFit?
Well, I pass the gym every day on my way to and from work. After years of strength training, I realized I put off other aspects of athleticism. So, I joined to just better myself in all aspects of physical training.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I had a membership while in the military; however, I stopped going after one year. As of this writing, I’ve been going to CrossFit Hays for about a month.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
What I try to do is approach workouts the same way I try to approach life. Not being afraid of taking on challenges, and, trying to better myself every day. Every workout is challenging. I am sure not the fastest or the strongest, but, I’ll definitely push as hard as my body will allow. Slowly, I have noticed my endurance and work load has been building…and that’s good enough for me. I’m content as long as each day gets better.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Squats. Can’t have no chicken legs.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Snatches. It even sounds like a dirty word.
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Don’t break any bones or tear any muscles! And, be able to do a muscle up…just one (gotta start somewhere).
